CSC-founded "Stuff the Truck" Campaign Stocks the Shelves of Strongsville's Emergency Food Bank Over the Holidays

Strongsville, Ohio (December 23 2009) -- The CSC Group, along with ten other area companies along Foltz Parkway and Drake Road hosted a food drive to benefit the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank during the month of December.

The campaign titled, "Stuff the Truck" was suggested and coordinated by CSC Group executive assistant, Michelle Andrews, with the support of Robert Zimmerman, President and COO.

Andrews started the grass roots food drive by circulating fliers to neighboring businesses with help from the City of Strongsville.

Quickly, 10 other companies signed on to participate. They include: A-Net Order, Fay Industries, Fuses Unlimited, John Allen Company, Keefe Supply Company, Mercury Logistics, Parker Hannifin Industrial Hose Division, Strongsville Montessori School, Swagelok Hy-Level Company, as well as the Swagelok Hy-Level Multiple Spindle Division.

"The response was overwhelming," commented Andrews. In less than a month, the 11 companies collected a truckload of food and toiletries along with cash donations.

Kelly Kling, coordinator of the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank accepted the donation on December 22. "This is easily $4,000 worth of food and supplies that we will be able to distribute to the 250 Strongsville families in need," Kling said.

CSC hopes to make this an annual event. Andrews has received positive feedback and offers for assistance for next year.

With a sluggish economy and the holiday season upon us, area food banks struggle to keep up with the growing need. Kling says that the food bank is always in need of canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats, and canned or boxed family meals such as stew. There is also a need for paper products and toiletries. If you would like to learn more about the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank or would like to make a donation, please call 440-846-0197.
